Ecamm Releases PhoneView 2.0

Ecamm Network today announced the release of PhoneView v2.0.

PhoneView 2.0 formerly MegaPhonePhoneView (formerly MegaPhone) is a Mac application which gives iPhone and iPod Touch users easy access to iTunes media, photos, notes, contacts, SMS and call history data stored on the device. Files and folders can also be copied to the device for data storage and file transfer between Macs. Additionally, notes can be added to the iPhone or iPod Touch Notes program by dragging text files, Word docs, PDF files, and other formats into the PhoneView browser. Version 2.0 brings searching, access to the contact list, and automatic archival of SMS and call history data.

Most of these features have been there in previous versions, but a name change isn’t all that’s different in 2.0. You can now edit multiple notes before rebooting your phone, instead of rebooting after each change. Note changes can also be undone. Photos can now be seen by album and search has been added throughout the interface. The contacts view is also new and SMS messages and recent calls are now automatically archived.

Overall, PhoneView is one of the simplest ways to access information on your iPhone’s media partition with no modifications required. Of course, you can also use the application to store and retrieve files as always.

A demo version of PhoneView is available from Ecamm.com and can be purchased for $19.95.
